Bio

Hi B here! I'm an artist, abortion doula, and founder of Somatic Birthing Studio. 

Somatic Birthing Studio is a creative space that provides emotional birth support to Black parents, families, and kin through poetry writing. Inspired by both my work at an abortion fund and art practice, we will use the elements of poetry to explore your emotions at your own pace. 

Abortion is part of the birthing journey and this is a soft reminder that you are not alone. Here's a poem that I wrote to nurture your spirit titled, Kin (2019).

When I hear the phrase “let me tell you”

coupled with a checking on you text

you are always in reach even when you’re not in front of me

never have I ever, questioned if you would show up and show out

or give me space to be both afraid and courageous

there’s no need for explanation

just us being there for each other without unrealistic expectations
